Snow in State College
Ugh. Honestly, I love snow. It’s beautiful and gorgeous, and despite it being below freezing (typically) when we get to enjoy it, it’s all a ton a fun!
Ok… maybe I should qualify. Not in October! Yesterday it started sleeting, then freezing rain, the slushy-rain (yes, that’s a technical term), then flat out snowing.
It was scary and thrilling at the same time. Who doesn’t get excited for the season’s first snow? It conjurs memories of hot cocoa, holiday cookie baking, maybe even Christmas trees brilliantly decorated in the corner.
And that’s great! I’d even be willing to let go of the fact that I wouldn’t get to wear any of my 50’s to mid-60’s degree fall wardrobe.
But what I failed to consider was that it’s fall. That means there are still leaves on all of the trees. And trees and leaves and snow don’t mix. To put it another way:
Leaves + trees + snow = 2 split Bradford Pear trees
With the Christmas references flying around somehow I feel that I am unjustly owed a partridge somewhere in the mix. Just to round things out, you know? ;)
Anybody else have fun October snow stories?
